Why Dive with Us?

Mikumba Diving has been running liveaboard trips in Komodo and Raja Ampat since 2018.

We have a very experienced boat crew and fantastic dive guides on our boats.

Jelajahi Laut was launched December 2021, she’s our luxurious mid range liveaboard that cruises around Raja Ampat, North Sulawesi, the Maluku Islands and the Banda Sea.

Nusantara is our budget safari boat, she spends the whole year in Komodo, and was completely renovated in 2022.

Between our boats we suit every budget, from backpackers who want to sleep on deck to those who want more comfort with their dive adventures, in a luxury Sea View cabin with a private balcony!

We’re eco friendly

We use eco friendly soaps, shampoos and cleaning products on both boats and the office and we provide reef safe sun screen for free on our boats.

We are Green Fins certified committed to protecting and preserving our coral reefs by following environmental guidelines that promote a sustainable diving and snorkelling industry. We protect coral reefs by following the Green Fins Code of Conduct, our staff receive regular environmental training, we proactively make improvements to daily practices to protect coral reefs and our business practices are verified through annual on-site assessments.

We are a PADI Eco Centre – this is granted to PADI Dive Centers, Resorts and Liveaboards that demonstrate a dedication to conservation and dive industry sustainability.

We are part of DOCK (Dive Operators Collaboration of Komodo) which is dedicated to the Komodo National Park and its Marine Environment. Our Ethic is one of safety, professionalism, and environmental and social sustainability. Members have agreed to stricter guidelines to ensure that our operations are compliant with international best practice, and above and beyond the required standards in this vibrant and rapidly developing destination.

We are part of the Jangkar Indonesian Liveaboard Association which promotes core values such as providing good quality safe vessels for marine tourism, working to a code of conduct to enhance the reputation of the Indonesian liveaboard industry, helping to educate the children of Indonesia to become stewards of the ocean and setting the example for environmental policies and respect of nature such as waste management.

We actively sponsor the local community by running and assisting with training and marine awareness sessions at school, we are active members of TrashHero and regularly do beach clean ups and also offer free water refills in the dive centre, and we also have a local PADI Divemaster program where we provide training up to Divemaster level for some of our staff.

Alles was goed geregeld. Mijn partner ging duiken en ík snorkelen. Ik had mijn eigen prive gids. Alle leden van de Nusantra waren echt fantastisch en deden van alles voor je.

Het is niet super luxe maar dat heb je ook helemaal niet nodig.
Je kan een douche nemen en er is een bed.

Het eten was ook tot in de puntjes verzorgd. En heel erg lekker. Elke dag iets anders.

The diving locations were excellent, and the team listened to our preferences when planning the dives. I also appreciated that they organised the diving groups with people who had similar air consumption, which made the dives more comfortable and enjoyable.

The food was delicious, with plenty of vegetarian options throughout the trip. The boat is simple, but has everything you need. The sun deck was a great place to relax, socialise with everyone between dives, or even sleep if you wanted to.

The dive team and crew were always friendly, helpful, and happy to assist with anything we needed. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience from start to finish.

If I decide to go back to Komodo, I’ll definitely choose Mikumba Diving again.

We completed the 4D/3N trip around Komodo onboard Nusantara. The team at Mikumba were incredible and I can't recommend them enough. The entire experience was faultless. Lovely vessel, the dive guides were exceptional (a special thank you to Sammy!), food was amazing. Local guides who were extremely professional and looked after everyone amazingly whilst still having a laugh with us. The food on board was amazing and no shortage of drinks. The dive guides were also amazing finding the right mix of fun and safety. Excellent gear for hire. Would recommend this to anyone. We were the only group on the liveaboard for four days, which made the whole trip feel very personal and relaxed. A special thanks to our guide Cristian – he was professional, friendly, and made everything feel safe and fun. Fantastic Liveaboard with outstanding staff

Incredible coral and sea life, dives were not only beautiful but diverse with a night dive and some exciting current dives. We dove with our children for the first time and the lead dive guide was able to make us all comfortable and safe. The food was very good and plentiful, and the views from our on board room were unforgettable.
